Day 65: March 6, 2014: Embarcadero and the Exploratorium
Oh my, how the science nerd in me loves the Exploratorium. Such science. So interactive.
This was only my second time here, and this time I finally got to see what I was missing. Having never made it to the previous Palace of Fine Arts location, my first trip was during one of the earliest After Dark events at Pier 15. However, we were foiled by San Francisco’s eagerness to turn up for anything new/trendy/serving alcohol, and by the time we showed up, the building was far too crowded to actually see anything.
The redo tonight turned out better, now that they early hype has died down. The scratch and sniff film show was a bit intense, though…
I love this place, and shall be back many times in the future, I’m sure. 🙂
Go check it out! Bring the kids, or just your inner child. All are welcome!

Day 64: March 5, 2014: Mission and 18th
Heavy rain + Mission Street + Pentax K1000 = Lovely shininess. Man, I would love to be able to spend more rainy nights out here with a fast lens and film shooting the streets. If only it weren’t a crazy drought year…
I wasn’t feeling like risking any of my more expensive cameras, and the waterproof Sureshot A1s can’t hold up to night quite so well, so I opted to take my freebie K1000 out. I’ve had some shutter speed issues with it before, but it seems to be working pretty well now. Love the streets, love the lights, love reflections, love the people, love this city!

Day 62: March 3, 2014: Clayton and Market
I love the rain, although after being caught up in it a few times lately, I opted to stay a bit closer to home. So I found a nice spot under a ledge to watch the people and traffic come and go, while listening to the pouring rain. There’s something I love about the glow of the city lights on the wet ground, along with the peaceful sound of the falling rain on the pavement. I could park myself in a dry spot and listen to it for hours. Give me a little lightning, and I’ll never move.

Day 61: March 2, 2014: Home
Welcome, Night Cat.
The first night of new cat in the house. At this point, she was content to hide far out of my reach in the back of the closet. A couple months later, and the two cats still don’t really get along, so Esmeralda here has become night cat, only free to roam after dark, when day cat is locked away. Eventually, maybe they’ll integrate…

Day 60: March 1, 2014: On Arguello Street
Some winding issues with my K1000 left me with some weirdo multiple exposure business today, but this was the scene outside an apartment open house in the Inner Richmond. Craziness. There was, I believe, a single one bedroom unit available in this building, and I’d guess about 60 people waiting outside when someone showed up with the keys to start the open house. Seriously, craziness.
Bonus: mirror selfie!

Day 59: February 28, 2014: Crocker-Amazon
Informal impromptu happy hour by my desk tonight turned into a trip to the Broken Record on this Friday evening. Maybe it was the attempt to use 400 speed film handheld at night, maybe it was the whiskey, maybe it was just my lack of patience this night, but the shots ended up just a bit blurry.
Oh well. I do like the clouds.

Day 58: February 27, 2014: Islais Creek
I don’t spend a ton of time out in this neighborhood, so there’s much left for me to explore! While I was out here slogging around in the rain yesterday, I noticed this little fixed up path/park following the creek past the Muni yard up to the freeway. With that in mind and nothing planned after work, I made a quick stop on my way home to play some more with the TLR.
Main lesson: remember to wind the film before taking another shot… :p
