Day 147: May 27, 2014: Golden Gate Park
Headed out for a Tuesday evening run through the park after work.

Day 146: May 26, 2014: The Castro
This truck has seen a lot. This neighborhood has seen a lot. This city has seen a lot.
Some problems might creep up, some rust may show up around the edges, but somehow these old trucks just seem to get better with age. How about we do what we can to make sure we can say the same about the community?

Day 145: May 25, 2014: Dogpatch
Cranes and brick. How could I not love wandering through the Dogpatch?
You don’t see a lot of old brick in SF, for good reason, but there’s some timeless feeling about these structures that always calls out to me.

Day 144: May 24, 2014: The Presidio
Another theme emerging for the year: Apparently I am compelled to take photos of any goat I may come accross. This time we found a few from City Grazing out at work on the edge fo the Presidio. Several of the kids from earlier in the year were there, but I didn’t find my little gray friend this time…

Day 143: May 23, 2014: Corona Heights
With the delay between when I take a photo and when I have it back developed and scanned, I’m noticing that I repeat the same photos on occasion without realizing it until later.
Today was a difficult one to get outside, so this was a quick one of Corona Heights from out of my window, which it turns out I had already done on another lazy day a frew weeks earlier. I guess it’s an interesting comparison of different films, if nothing else. 🙂

Day 142: May 22, 2014: Sutro Forest
Another day, another run. Normally, I’d take color film if I know I’m going to the park or into the forest, but today seemed like a good day to change that routine up.
I’m finding the black and whites from the Sureshots to be hit and miss, with some coming out really flat or oddly exposed. This one I like, but I’m not certain why it came out better than others. Having never taken any formal photography classes and picking up photography after digital reached full saturation, black and white film is a new world for me, and I have much to learn.
These were all processed by a lab, so I figure the first step is to procure some equipment and develop a few rolls myself to get a bit more control over the process. I have no idea where it will go from there, but I will admit there’s a certain appeal to geeking out on the science of it.
I’ll just have to see where the path takes me. Never stop moving.

Day 141: May 21, 2014: Hayes Valley
Arriving a bit early for a birthday party in Hayes Valley, I found some lovely evening light around the Proxy setup on Octavia, so I had to take a few photos.
I was going for some sort of interesting combination of the window mannequin and the people on the street below, but couldn’t quite get the elements together in a way that worked for me. Honestly, I wouldn’t consider these worth posting if it weren’t for the photo a day project, but it serves as another reminder to myself not to get discouraged when things don’t quite work out.
Sometimes the elements don’t come together. Sometimes I can spend a whole afternoon out and not come back with anything that excites me. What’s important is to keep trying. As long as you’re out there trying, you’re out there learning, and that’s the only solid path to success.

Day 140 May 20, 2014: Asilomar Dunes
The final day of the work conference down at the Asilomar conference grounds in Pacific Grove. Every time this conference rolls around, I try to get a room offsite at one of the little hotels down the road, which gives me the opportunity to take a nice walk along the beach to the conference each morning. Sometimes it’s nice, sometimes it’s rainy and cold, but it doesn’t really matter. That peaceful walk along the shore is always one of my favorite moments.
Now, if only I could figure out how to make my everyday commute into a walk on the beach, I do believe I would never be stressed again. :p

Day 139: May 19, 2014: Pacific Grove
So, I met one of the neighbors on the golf course today. She seemed a bit unfamiliar with the rules of the game, but was friendly enough…

Day 138: May 18, 2014: Pacific Grove
Hey look, it’s a Beetle! How many of these do you think I’ll get by the end of the year? Maybe I’ll even find one with a goat standing on it. Or am I not supposed to cross the themes? I forget.
